The Steadfast Fleet Sets Sail for Gaza

After more than 17 years of efforts, the \u201cSteadfast
\nFleet\u201d marks the 38th attempt in a series of humanitarian missions aimed at
\nbreaking the siege imposed by Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip since
\n2007.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, more than 37 ships have tried to reach
\nthe Strip, with only the first five attempts succeeding, while all subsequent
\nvessels faced Israeli restrictions and piracy. The most recent cases were the
\nship Madeleine last June and Hanzala a month later.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This time, the Steadfast Fleet carries a record number
\nof boats and volunteers, surpassing the total of all previous attempts,
\nreflecting the accumulation of global solidarity efforts and the participants\u2019
\ndetermination to achieve their goal of breaking the siege.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Brazilian activist Tiago Avila, who has taken part in
\nmany of these campaigns, stated that the primary motivation is the suffering of
\nthe Palestinian people under a siege that has lasted 18 years. He emphasized
\nthat their mission is peaceful, aiming to encourage global solidarity and
\npressure governments to sever ties with the Israeli occupation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the goal is not only maritime access but
\nalso creating a political and symbolic impact by highlighting the strength of
\nhumanitarian solidarity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Activist Yasmin Ajar, a crew member of the Madeleine,
\nstressed that the number of active participants is the main distinguishing
\nfactor for the Steadfast Fleet. She noted that the mission is not limited to
\nsailing; it also involves demonstrations, boycotts, and raising awareness
\nglobally.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She affirmed that sustained solidarity, despite
\ndifficulties and repression, represents a cumulative force capable of achieving
\nsymbolic and political results, even if progress appears slow.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants note that the current fleet is more than
\njust a maritime mission; it represents a \u201cglobal uprising\u201d rejecting violence
\nand international complicity. They insist that, regardless of arrests or
\nharassment, they will continue their efforts to show solidarity with Gaza and
\nbreak the siege.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, the Steadfast Fleet represents a new phase in
\nglobal humanitarian activism, combining determination to confront the
\noccupation with expanding international solidarity, aiming for a symbolic and
\npolitical victory that ensures a humanitarian corridor for Palestinians in
\nGaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
