Libyan
\nactivists announced on Friday the preparations for the departure of the \u201cOmar
\nal-Mukhtar Fleet\u201d from Libyan shores to join the international \u201cFleet of
\nSteadfastness\u201d, which aims to break the 18-year blockade imposed on the Gaza
\nStrip.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nannouncement came during a press conference held at Algeria Square in central
\nTripoli, attended by national and human rights figures, including former Prime
\nMinister Omar al-Hassi, alongside Arab and foreign supporters.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Hassi
\nstated that the Libyan fleet will carry Libyan and international activists, men
\nand women, committed to a peaceful humanitarian mission far from any form of
\nviolence. He stressed that the primary goal is to end the siege that has caused
\na catastrophic famine in Gaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\nexplained that the international fleet consists of more than 50 vessels of
\nvarious sizes, loaded with relief supplies including food, medicine, water,
\nclothing, and winter blankets. \u201cPalestine no longer needs passing speeches, but
\nrather a serious international project that supports its people\u2019s rights,\u201d he
\nadded.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Hassi
\nnoted that the departure date of the Libyan fleet will be set once the
\ninternational convoys pass by Libyan waters, likely at the beginning of next
\nweek.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Last
\nSunday, around 20 ships sailed from Barcelona, Spain, followed by others from
\nGenoa, Italy, while a third convoy is expected to depart from Tunisia in the
\ncoming days before continuing toward Gaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\n\u201cFleet of Steadfastness\u201d includes several international coalitions, most
\nnotably the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Gaza Movement, the Convoy of
\nSteadfastness, and Malaysia\u2019s Nusantara Resilience Organization.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This
\ninitiative comes amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, backed by the
\nUnited States, since October 7, 2023, which has so far killed more than 64,000
\npeople and injured 162,000, mostly women and children, in addition to thousands
\nmissing and millions displaced. Meanwhile, famine continues to claim the lives
\nof hundreds, including dozens of children.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
