Thousands of
\nMoroccans Rally in Support of the Freedom Flotilla and to Break the Siege on
\nGaza<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Thousands of Moroccans
\ndemonstrated in the cities of Tangier (north) and Agadir (south) on Saturday
\nevening, in support of the Global Freedom Flotilla heading to Gaza, and to
\ndemand an end to what they described as the genocide and starvation war committed
\nby Israel against Palestinians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The two demonstrations were
\norganized at the invitation of the Moroccan Initiative for Support and
\nSolidarity (a non-governmental organization), and were joined by citizens,
\nactivists, and human rights advocates from various groups.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Media outlets reported that
\nhundreds of participants in a sit-in continuing until midnight Saturday\/Sunday
\nin Agadir raised slogans supporting the Global Freedom Flotilla, which aims to
\nbreak the blockade on Gaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In Tangier, thousands of
\ndemonstrators marched through the streets of the city, declaring their support
\nfor the Global Freedom Flotilla.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Among the slogans chanted were:
\n\u201cPalestine resists,\u201d \u201cNo to starvation, no to genocide,\u201d \u201cRest in peace,
\nmartyr, we will continue the struggle,\u201d and \u201cShame, Gaza is being destroyed.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants in the
\ndemonstrations condemned Israel\u2019s starvation policy, attempts to displace
\nPalestinians from their land, and the continued targeting of civilians in the
\nGaza Strip.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier on Saturday, the
\nInternational Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza announced the departure of
\nthe first ship of the Global Freedom Flotilla from the port of Bizerte in
\nnorthern Tunisia, heading towards Gaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cGlobal Freedom Flotilla\u201d
\ncurrently includes nearly 50 ships gathered in Tunisian ports, including a
\nMaghreb convoy of 23 vessels, in addition to 22 foreign ships carrying
\nparticipants from several countries in Europe, Latin America, the United States,
\nPakistan, India, and Malaysia, according to flotilla spokespersons, activists,
\nand an Anadolu correspondent on the ground.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Israel has imposed a blockade on
\nthe Gaza Strip for 18 years, leaving about 1.5 million Palestinians out of the
\nenclave\u2019s 2.4 million people homeless after their houses were destroyed in what
\nhas been described as a war of extermination.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Since October 7, 2023, Israel,
\nbacked by the United States, has been carrying out what Palestinians describe
\nas genocide in Gaza, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and
\ndisplacement, while ignoring international appeals and rulings by the International
\nCourt of Justice to halt it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This campaign has resulted in
\n64,803 Palestinian deaths, 164,264 injuries\u2014mostly children and women\u2014hundreds
\nof thousands displaced, and famine that has claimed the lives of 420
\nPalestinians, including 145 children, as of Saturday.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
