War in Gaza Drives Britons Toward

A study conducted by the British Institute for the
\nImpact of Faith in Life (IIFL) revealed that global conflicts, particularly the
\nIsraeli war on the Gaza Strip, serve as a significant motivator for Britons to
\nembrace Islam.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the study, the findings support reports
\nof increased conversions to Islam during the recent Gaza conflict. The report
\nhighlighted that media coverage linking Britons\u2019 interest in Islam to conflicts
\naffecting Muslim communities may hold considerable relevance in this context.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The report, published on the institute\u2019s website,
\nconcluded that global wars attract Britons toward Islam. Researchers stated:
\n\u201cThis pattern may corroborate media reports released in late 2023 and 2024,
\nwhich indicate a notable rise in conversions to Islam following the recent
\nIsraeli war on Gaza.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The study also noted that \u201cpeople who convert to Islam
\noften do so in search of purpose.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The research surveyed 2,774 individuals who had
\nchanged their religious beliefs, either by adopting a new faith or abandoning
\nreligion altogether. It concluded that motivations for conversion vary
\nsignificantly depending on the religion adopted. According to the study, 20% of
\nrecent converts to Islam cited reasons related to global conflict, while 18%
\nattributed their conversion to mental health considerations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In a related context, the latest UK census, conducted
\nby the Office for National Statistics, revealed that Christians now constitute
\nless than half of the population in England and Wales for the first time in the
\ncountry\u2019s history. The Telegraph reported that 46.2% of the population (27.5
\nmillion people) identified as \u201cChristian\u201d in 2021, compared to 59.3% (33.3
\nmillion) in 2011, marking a decline of 13.1%.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
