Anatoly Aksakov,
\nChairman of the Financial Markets Committee of the Russian State Duma, has
\nrevealed efforts to establish an Islamic bank in Russia<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He made the
\nannouncement during an event held on Friday in Kazan, the capital of the
\nRepublic of Tatarstan<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Aksakov explained
\nthat consultations are underway with business leaders and representatives of
\nthe Muslim community in Russia regarding the bank\u2019s establishment<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cWe are
\nworking diligently to establish an Islamic bank in Russia, and we are also
\nholding talks with Arab countries to set it up<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Islamic banking
\nservices are gaining popularity in Russia, with projections indicating that
\nMuslims could constitute about 30% of the country\u2019s total population by 2033<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Pilot operations of
\nIslamic banking have already begun in some of Russia\u2019s Muslim-majority regions,
\nincluding Tatarstan, Chechnya, and Dagestan, as of early September 2023<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
