Angry Protests Erupt in Jordan Against Starvation in Gaza, Demand Urgent

Amman,
\nJordan \u2013 Large-scale protests have recently swept through the Jordanian
\ncapital, Amman, and other cities across the kingdom, as demonstrators voiced
\ntheir outrage over the starvation of Gaza\u2019s population under the ongoing siege
\nand war imposed by the Israeli occupation for more than 21 months<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In Amman, a
\nmass march set off from the Al-Tafayla neighborhood, where protesters banged on
\nkitchen pots in a symbolic act representing hunger and suffering. They chanted
\nangry slogans denouncing the silence of Arab governments and rejecting
\nnormalization agreements with the Israeli occupation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants
\nalso raised banners expressing support for the Palestinian resistance and
\nreaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Gaza, who continue to endure
\ndire humanitarian conditions under blockade and bombardment<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The march
\nbegan outside the Jaafar Al-Tayyar Mosque, marking a rare event after months of
\nrestrictions by Jordanian authorities on central demonstrations since the
\nIsraeli assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In the
\nnorthern city of Irbid, protesters attempted to launch a march from the
\nvicinity of Al-Hashimi Mosque following evening prayers. However, security
\nforces quickly cordoned off the area, preventing their movement. The
\ndemonstration was instead held as a sit-in at the mosque entrance, where
\nparticipants expressed their fury at the killing, starvation, and displacement
\nof Gazans, calling on the Jordanian government to take immediate action and use
\nall available means to deliver humanitarian aid<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

These
\nprotests come amid one of the worst humanitarian crises in Gaza\u2019s history.
\nSevere shortages of food, clean water, and medicine persist, while the death
\ntoll continues to rise daily<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Since March
\n2, 2025, the Israeli occupation has completely sealed off all border crossings
\ninto Gaza, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid. This has triggered a
\nwidespread famine, resulting in hundreds of starvation-related deaths<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth
\nnoting that the Israeli occupation has waged a brutal war on Gaza since October
\n2023\u2014marked by mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced
\ndisplacement\u2014while disregarding international appeals and rulings from the
\nInternational Court of Justice calling for an end to the aggression<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The war,
\nbacked directly by the United States, has so far claimed the lives of nearly
\n200,000 people, mostly women and children, left over 9,000 missing, and
\ndisplaced hundreds of thousands more<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
