Thousands of Tunisians Bid

On Wednesday, thousands of Tunisians flocked
\nto the Sidi Bou Said beach to support the “Steadfastness” fleet,
\nwhich is set to sail toward the Gaza Strip, in a major show of solidarity with
\nthe Palestinian people and an effort to break the siege imposed by the Israeli
\noccupation on the territory<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The fleet comprises dozens of boats carrying
\nactivists from 44 countries, delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. Among them
\nare Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, Portuguese leftist politician Mariana
\nMort\u00e1gua, and the grandson of Nelson Mandela<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Tunisian civil society activists, members of
\nparliament, journalists, and artists are participating in the fleet, while a
\nlarge crowd on the shore waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans supporting
\nGaza and condemning the Israeli occupation and the United States<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Reuters, the Tunisian Coast
\nGuard is patrolling near the fleet to provide protection, as participants
\nprepare to board the boats and load supplies<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Attack and Determination to
\nSail<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The fleet was targeted by two drone attacks
\nover the past two nights, aimed at the main ships in the convoy. Organizers
\naccuse the Israeli occupation of being behind these attacks in an attempt to
\ndisrupt the mission<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Wael Nawar, one of the fleet organizers,
\nsaid: \u201cWe will sail toward Gaza despite bad weather and attempts to intimidate
\nus with drone attacks. We are prepared for all scenarios and will not back
\ndown, as the challenges we face are nothing compared to what our brothers and
\nsisters in Gaza are enduring<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The organization of this fleet comes at a
\ntime when Gaza continues to endure the ongoing war of extermination waged by
\nthe Israeli occupation, which has so far resulted in approximately 65,000<\/b>
\ndeaths, most of them women and children<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Amid bombardments and the destruction of
\nresidential neighborhoods, the occupying authorities prevent the entry of food
\nand medical supplies, leading to hundreds of deaths from starvation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
