In a poignant human
\nstory with both political and spiritual dimensions, 55-year-old American
\nHillary Morris announced her conversion to Islam, stating that the events of
\nOctober 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza were a turning point that
\nchanged the course of her life and beliefs<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning with the
\nQuran<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Morris, who works in
\nhealthcare, says her first encounter with Islam occurred during her university
\nstudies in a course on religions, where she was introduced to the declaration
\nof faith (Shahada)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She adds,
\n“Since that time, I would repeat \u2018La ilaha illallah\u2019 whenever I felt
\nanxious, without realizing that it would eventually pave the way for my
\nspiritual journey<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Gaza: The Spark that
\nIgnited Certainty<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The scenes of
\nbombing and destruction in Gaza after October 7 prompted Morris to explore
\nIslam more deeply. She explains, “I realized that faith is not merely a
\nsource of personal comfort, but a refuge for entire peoples, like the
\nPalestinians. About two months later, I declared my Islam\u2014Alhamdulillah<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Collapse of the
\nWestern Narrative<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Morris expressed her
\nshock at the distorted image she had been given of Palestine and Islam through
\nAmerican media and education. She said, “The veil fell from my eyes when I
\nlearned the true history and understood the extent of the misinformation we had
\nbeen subjected to<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She emphasized that
\nher conversion to Islam was not only a spiritual choice but also “an act
\nof faith and resistance against intellectual and political domination<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Image of Muslim
\nWomen<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Morris criticized
\nthe stereotypical portrayal of Muslim women in the West, adding, “The West
\ndepicts itself as a savior of women, yet it neither listens to them nor
\nunderstands that true justice comes from the dignity that Islam provides<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Field Solidarity
\nwith Gaza<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Morris did not limit
\nherself to the spiritual aspect; she also participated in support campaigns and
\ndonations for displaced people from Gaza and continued attending pro-Palestine
\ndemonstrations<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She affirms,
\n“Even if I stand alone in the rain holding a sign, it is part of my faith
\nand my duty toward the oppressed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.”<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Message of Hope<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Morris concluded her
\ninterview with a message to the West, saying, “My story is proof that many
\npeople are beginning to awaken to the falsehood of the prevailing narrative
