\nSupports the Steadfast Fleet to Break the Siege of Gaza Amid Israeli Aggression<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Tunisians held a
\nsolidarity vigil on Wednesday evening in front of the Municipal Theater in the
\ncapital, Tunis, in support of the “Global Steadfast Fleet” aimed at
\nbreaking the siege on Gaza, coinciding with the Israeli forces\u2019 blockade of its
\nships<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The vigil was called
\nfor by the “Joint Action Coordination for Palestine,” the organizer
\nof the Maghreb Steadfast Fleet, and was attended by dozens of Tunisians who
\nemphasized the importance of international popular pressure to support the fleet
\nand enable it to reach Gaza<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier on
\nWednesday, Israeli forces raided six ships heading to the Gaza Strip, assaulted
\nactivists, and detained dozens, according to the organizers<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Activist Jawaher
\nShana, participating in the Maghreb Steadfast Fleet, said: \u201cWe must all
\nmobilize to support the fleet and defend it against any aggression, and to
\nexert pressure so it can reach Gaza,\u201d adding that \u201c28 Tunisians are part of the
\nfleet, and their lives are at risk<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She further stated:
\n\u201cPerhaps with global popular pressure, some ships will reach Gaza, for
\nPalestine and to stop the brutal extermination<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants held
\nseveral slogans during the vigil, including: \u201cNo fear, no terror, the fleet is
\nprotected by the people,\u201d \u201cGreetings from Tunisia to our fleet of freedom,\u201d and
\n\u201cFreedom, freedom for our fleet<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The vigil in Tunisia
\ncoincided with massive demonstrations in major cities worldwide, including
\nRome, Brussels, and Istanbul, protesting the Israeli attacks on the Steadfast
\nFleet<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

International
\norganizations, including Amnesty International, called for protection for the
\nfleet, while the United Nations affirmed that any attack on it is \u201cunacceptable<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Israeli forces have
\npreviously engaged in acts of piracy against ships heading to Gaza, seizing
\nsome vessels and detaining activists<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This collective
\nattempt marks the first of its kind, as dozens of ships seek to reach Gaza,
\nhome to approximately 2.4 million Palestinians, in an effort to break the
\n18-year blockade, which has left around 1.5 million Palestinians homeless
\nfollowing widespread destruction of their homes<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Since October 7,
\n2023, Israeli forces, with U.S. support, have been committing a genocide in
\nGaza, resulting in the deaths of more than 66,000 Palestinians and injuries to
\nover 168,000 others, most of them children and women, while famine has claimed
\nthe lives of 455 Palestinians, including 151 children<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
